terrible tarantulas

today i am taking about the tarantula. to start off tarantula is a arachnid. an arachnid means it has eight legs. as you might know, all spiders are arachnids. the tarantula is probably one of the biggest spiders as well. the next part is about where the tarantulas live. the tarantulas are found in South America and some species in Mexico such as the red knee tarantula. the tarantulas habitats that they are in are usually are in deserts or scrub forests. the tarantula also burrows and lives in dens. and will not be seen in rocky mountain areas. as you might know their are many types of tarantulas. the one at the top (also the most common) is the red knee tarantula. the red knee tarantula is called this because of the orange red like bands every where across its body. this tarantula is also known (i don't know why ) for its hairy body. the red kneed tarantula scientific name is Brachypelma Smithi. the next part about is their diet. the tarantula is a carnivore. it feeds on mainly insects small mammals and small reptiles. the way the tarantula kills its prey is vile and disgusting. like the king cobra, the tarantula has a poisonous venom. but the taranulas venom has different symptoms. when the animal is stunned its insides slowly disolve into a liquid . the tarantula then would as you could say drink the animals insides out and then look for more prey. now that we have talked about what they eat, how about we talk about what eats them. allot of animals eat the tarantula. if the animal eats the tarantula without getting bitten it is fine because the tarantuls venom is only piosonous if it enters the animals blood stream. the next thing and last is just cool facts about the tarantula. to start of it is solitary meaning it does not live in groups of tarantula.they live 20 to 30 years grow slow they can run 18 miles per hour and finally can grow up to 4 to 7 inches. thank you for listening. please leave comments suggestions and spread the word. also if you have any questions please ask. the next animal is a mammoth. thank you for reading :). i will not be doing any more until it is school time or at the end of August.

cool king cobras

today i am talking about the king cobra. of course the king cobra is a cobra but there is allot more to the king cobra than that. to start of the king cobra is an reptile. a reptile is an animal that lays eggs, breaths air and have scaly skin. but before all of these the most important part of a reptile is that it is cold blooded. cold blooded means its body has adapted to the weather in its surrounded. you might know that our body temperature stays the same. no matter how hot or cold it is it stays warm. that is why mammals are called warm blooded. but a king cobras body temperature is always changing. this is confusing to explain so i will just give an example. if it was 32 degrees outside, the king cobras body temperature would change to 32 degrees. if it were 98 degrees outside the king cobras body temperature would change to 98 degrees. the next part is the king cobras is their diet. to start of with that, the king cobra is a carnivore which means it eats meat. to kill its prey, it uses a deadly venom to poison its prey. the snake will bite the animal with large fangs located in its mouth.when the snake bites the animal the venom from its fangs goes directly into the animals blood stream. in a few minutes, the king cobras venom paralyzes the animal. in a few minutes the animal is dead because the venom stopped the lungs and the heart so the animal died from lack of air. the next part is that the king cobra swallows its food whole. the jaw of the king cobra can expand. by this i mean it can open it wider the it is supposed to. its mouth is so wide it can eat a whole deer in one bite. literally. its mouth opens so wide that it fits the whole animal in its mouth, bones and all. the last part of eating is about digestion. the king cobra has special stomach acid that can dissolve the fur bones and meat on the animal it ate. the next part is about mating. the female king cobras are the only snake in the world to build a nest for its young. when the male and female mate the female lays 20 to 50 eggs every year the eggs will take 60 to 70 days to hatch but the female is very aggressive during this time and will protect the eggs all this time. as soon as the baby snakes or hatchlings are born they leave the nest and are on their own. the next part is shedding. when the king cobra grows (it never stops growing in all of its 20 years of life) its skin gets to small for it. the snake rubs on something and tears the skin off. the new layer of skin is right at the bottom of the dead skin which fits the cobra. there are only four more things to talk about. the first is evolution scientist have discovered that a snake has evolved from a type of lizard. the next thing is what things they can do though they have no legs. the king cobra can swim slither on land and even climb up trees. the third thing is where they live. they live in countries such as indonesia, Philippines Thailand Vietnam and Burma. the last thing is their size. they are born very small but can grow up to 5.7 meters. thank you for reading. please leave comments suggestions and spread the word. also if you have any questions i will answer them. thank you. the next one i will do is the tarantula. thank you for reading :).

small syrian hamsters

today i m doing another type of hamster, the Syrian hamster is much larger than the Russian Dwarf hamster but about the same size as a small rat. to start of the Syrian hamster of course lives in Syria. but not just that the Syria as you know (or maybe not) that  Syria is full of deserts and is very hot. well, the Syrian hamster lives in deserts in the country of Syria. to survive the heat the Syrian hamsters make a little nest using things like  sand and other small objects. this cools them off from the shade. when you keep Syrian hamsters as pets if you give them sawdust and soft bedding they pouch it and make a cute but small nest. the next part is what they eat. when  they are feral they will eat nuts berries or anything they can find in or on the ground. the last thing is their flexibility.  a Syrian hamster is very flexible and if it were a human it could probably do the splits if it wanted to. that is all for today please leave comments suggestions and spread the word. next is king cobra, a kind of snake. thank you for reading :)

ridiculous Russian Dwarf Hamsters

today i am talking about the Russian Dwarf Hamster. to start of the Russian dwarf hamster is a popular pet in many places. they do a lot  of cute stunts such as running on a hamster wheel and jumping off incredibly high things which you should never let them do. the Russian dwarf hamster is also so adorable. as you know from the name the Russian dwarf hamsters live in Russia. the thick and warm which protects the hamster during the winter. the interesting thing is that Russian hamsters hibernate like bears and skunks and other mammals. when the hamster hibernates instead of eating and fattening up before they just fill their pouches and eat whenever they get hungry during hibernation.  now lets talk about their pouches. the hamster has cheeks that it fills up with food so it can carry more than one thing at a time and people call these cheeks pouches. the interesting thing is that their cheeks expand and it is funny to see them when their pouches. my hamster is named cheeks because of this and he can fit about 36 cheerios in his mouth. the last thing is that the hamster eats berries and other wild things in its habitat. thank you for reading the next thing is the Syrian hamster thank you  :)

Tuesday 18 June 2013

trilobite

today i am doing a preistorich animal called the trilobite. to start of the trilobite is now extinct back 520 million year ago this animal was just beginning. the trilobite is an arthropod. an arthropod is an animal with an exoskeleton. an exoskeleton is the bones are on the outside of the animal instead of the inside. the trilobites eat worms plankton and even smaller trilobite they can get their hands on. another amazing thing is that the trilobite was around even before and dinosaurs. the trilobite lived in the ocean. the trilobite lived in every ocean from the Indian to the pacific. as you see the trilobites exoskeleton is very hard. the trilobite uses its exoskeleton  live Armour and uses it to be protected from the other dangerous creatures 520 million years ago. that is all for today. please leave comments suggestions and spread the world. and thank you :)

Tuesday 11 June 2013

ordinary ostrichs

today i am writing about the ostrich. the ostriches a bird that lives on most of the continent of Africa. to start of the ostrich the ostrich is the fastest land bird in running. its legs are very long. so is it's neck. the ostrich has a very long neck that it uses to check out for predators. the next part is the ostriches brain. the ostrich is not a very bright or intelligent creature. its brain is smaller than its ridiculous small eye. the next part is that the eye is the part that does not help the ostrich. the eye is very small so it has bad eyesight and the ostrich is colorblind. the last thing is the ostrich eats plant and small invertebrates. that is all for now, please leave comments, suggestion, and spread the wore the next one is a trilobite. thank you for reading :)

Friday 7 June 2013

weird werewolf skinny pigs

today i m doing the werewolf skinny pig. to start of when the little baby skinny pig is born. it has lots of fur like normal Guinea pigs do  but as they get older, their fur falls out. next, the werewolf skinny pig eats what every skinny pig eats in the wild. GRASS! the next thing is that werewolf skinny pigs live in south America and live in other places but only as pets. the next part is that the werewolf skinny pig is a very popular pet. i do not know allot about werewolf skinny pigs so if you find anything wrong TELL ME. the next part is that the werewolf skinny pig lives in very hot places. this is why they live in dens. they use their sharp claws to dig huge dens which keep them cool in the warm/hot weather. the last part is that the werewolf skinny pig has very bad hearing. so if a predator is nearby, only if the werewolf skinny pig sees it in time will it escape and hide inside of its little den that it dug

Wednesday 5 June 2013

super sloths

today i am doing the sloth. the sloth to start of is nocturnal meaning it is asleep during the day and awake during night. a sloth is a mammal. the sloth eats leaves from trees. though it looks like they never come out of trees, they will climb down to the bottom still holding on to the tree bark and will have a drink of water. the next part is their claws. the sloths have huge claws that are bended and thick so they can just wrap themselves around the trees with their claws. the next part is their speed.the sloth is a very slow creature because it is meant to stay in trees. because of this when it climbs down it has a very high chance of getting hurt by a predator. the next part is about there baby's. the little baby's hold on to the mothers and usually lay  their others stomach.  the next part is their sleeping habits. the sloth is a very lazy creature and sleeps about 18 hours a day and also takes naps through the night. so it is only up for a couple of hours. the last part is that there are many kinds of sloths there is the ground sloth (lived in the prehistoric and is now extinct) and there are many but most are unknown the two most known is the three toed sloth and the pygmy three toed sloths. i hoped you liked reading. leave comments suggestions, and spread the word. tomorrow i am doing a werewolf skinny pig thank you :)

awesome angora bunnies

today i am writing about angora rabbits the angora bunny as you see does not look very much like a bunny at all. all you can see is its fur its nose an a bit of it's eyes so it is basically a big marshmallow. but actually it does look like a real rabbit. if you shave it. the angora bunny's fur never stops growing. it just keeps growing and growing and growing and growing. allot of people actually shave them to use their fur like farmers do with their sheep. people use the fur because it is very warm and they use it to make sweaters and other clothes. as you see the hair even grows on the ears. sometimes its so long you can't even see any of the ears at all. the next part is about what they eat. to be honest, the angora bunny WOULD eat grass if it lived in the wild. but these bunnys are not  found in the wild. they are domerstic. which mans they are only found in captivity. but as pets you can buy their food but also there are many types of fruits and vegetables it can eat.some as you know it can not. this is because the higher amounts of sugar in different ones. another reason is because of the oxolic. oxolic is something found in plants. if eaten in small amounts it is fine but if a rabbit consumes too much it can poison and kill them rabbit.also if you have a pet bunny DO NOT give it anything with starch in it.this can also poison it. the bad thing about all that hair is that it can cause furballs if a bunny swallows fur it can kill it. because its stoumach is so weak. this is a good reason to shave it. the last thing is the kinds of angora rabbits. their are English, french, giant, satin, German, Chinese, Swiss, Finnish, Korean and the saint Lucian bunny. i hope you like my blog. pleas leave comments suggestions and spread the word. also next Friday my blog about places will be here. i will give you the address once it is on the computer. thank you for reading :).

Monday 3 June 2013

outstanding otters

the otter is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to start of an otter is actually part of the weasel family. if you look at it it kind of does look like a swimming weasel. anyway the sea otter eats mussels clams and other mollusks under at the bottom of the sea. the otters collect mollusks, and rocks then swim back up to the surface and lay on their backs. the sea otters usually bangs on the mollusks shell to pry it open then the eat the squishy and gross inside. the next thing is as you know the sea otter lives in the sea. the next thing is about their children. the babies are very small but swim as soon as they are born (because they are born in the sea), the cute part about the baby sea otters is when they sleep. to make sure none of them float away when sleeping, the either wrap themselves in seaweed or hold each others hands that way they are all safe. as you see the sea otter has a very thick water proof fur coat. people used to and still illegally hunt otters for their pelts. usually otters will not defend themselves because they really can't so it is easy for poachers to hunt them. another thing is there really good sense of smell. they can smell things miles away which is good for it to smell its food/prey under water. the last thing is that the sea otter is very endangered and is rapidly becoming extinct. you must help the sea otters. thank you for reading leave comments suggestions and come back tomorrow i am doing the angora rabbit. also please check because soon i am making a new website about places on the planet and why you should go there. so to find good places to take a vacation, check on this website because soon i will write down the website to my other blog. thank you :).

Saturday 1 June 2013

curious chinchillas

the chinchilla is possibly he most lazy animal you will ever encounter. to start of chinchillas first came from the Andes mountains in South America. chinchillas eat nuts seeds berries and grass. the chinchilla is also an mammal. the chinchilla also has strange habits to protect itself kind of like a skunk. if the chinchilla is alarmed, it will spray urine at its predators. sometimes they also let their fur go loose. i don't know how it helps but apparently it does. the chinchillas main predators are owls fox and cougars. most people like to know what the scientific names for animals are so the chinchillas is chinchilla Lanigera. most people know you can keep chinchillas but there is a bit more of it you probably don't know. chinchillas were first kept in California because the people in South America brought them over. people in California  started to ship them to other places too. there are advantages and disadvantages about owning a chinchilla. the advantage are its life span, its weight its size, and its fur. the chinchillas life span is very long it lives up too ten to eighteen years.the next thing is it weighs almost nothing. the chinchilla only weighs 400g to 500g. the next thing is that they are tiny as a baby but can grow up to 25cm to 35cm. another thing is everyone likes the fur because it is thick and soft on their pet. the disadvantages are its speeds  and its weak body. if your chinchilla got out in a big area it would be hard to catch because it can run up to 15 miles per hour. the next thing is what people call floating ribs. the chinchillas rib cage is not fully connected to the skeleton. if you pick it up under on its stomach or if any pressure is put on the ribs can cave in and go right into vital organs and kill the chinchilla. thank you for reading. please leave comments suggestions and spread the word.and sorry for not doing them for the past week. thank you for reading :)

Friday 24 May 2013

perposterous pacu

Today i am going to talk about the pacu. a pacu is a huge vegetarian and eats seaweed and other freshwater plants.the pacu is also related to the piranha. the pacu can grow up to 3 feet and weight 55 pounds. the pacu lives in south America and Papua new Guinea.but it also lives a few places were it doesn't belong. the main place the pacu now lives is the african rivers. this fish was actually introduced to the place` as a way to give africans a bigger supply of food. but it went entirley wrong. first the pacu ate every plant it could there.because of this the animals houses and dens were destroyed and had no place to live. then the pacu had run out of foodand had to find another source of food to eat. MEAT. the pacu actually started to eat humans. the pacus teeth is like humans teeth so they can grip a persons leg or arm and easily drag them under water. so just because a big fish was moved to another continent, it ruined the whole enviroment there. as you see you should never bring or introduce a new animal. pacus and snakheads are two examples of why you should never do this. thank younfor reading. please leave comments suggestions and please spread the word to other people. I hope you liked it and tomorrow I am doing the chinchilla. I hope you learned allot. :)

Thursday 23 May 2013

killer snakeheads

today i am going to talk about the killer snakehead. to start of the snakehead is a type fish that lives in fresh water. as you can see the snakehead is long and looks allot like a snake. this is why they call it a snakehead. Another reason it is called a snakehead is because of its eating habits. snakeheads are meat eaters and are even know to eat humans. the snakehead lives in north america, asia, and africa. the snakehead is one of the most deadliest fish in rivers in my opinion. some people think to just stay out of the water and they will be safe. it is different with snakeheads. the thing about snakeheads is that they can go onto land. this is aother reason they are called snakeheads. the slither and move around on the land. their lungs are developed so they can breath in the water and breath on land. these things are so deadly they were on the news.this is a reason they are everwhere. they used to just be in africa and asia but some dude brung ont to north america which is a bad thing to do. there is two ways they can spread across continents easily. one way is that without a male, the female snakehead can lay 10,000 eggs a month!!!! the other reason is since snakeheads can move quickly on the land, they can move into other rivers and breed there. so even if it is one female, if it is not caught there will be too much to catch. there are many types of snakeheads. the one in the oicture is the biggest snakehead, the king snakehead. the most common snakehead is the bullseye snakehead. the bullseyes snakehead is called that because on it's tail it has an eye on it. that is the end but tomorrow i am writing abou the pacu. please leave comments and suggestions.

the killer Goliath tiger fish

the last one of today is the Goliath tiger fish.  the Goliath tiger fish is about 5 feet long and weighs around 154 pounds! the Goliath tiger fish is sort of a tan at the top and a silver on its stomach.  as you see the Goliath tiger fish has really big and sharp teeth. the Goliath tiger fish has 32 teeth  and is known to kill crocodiles, giant fish, and even allot of people. the Goliath tiger fish lives in rivers in Africa. surprisingly this is a fresh water fish. the Goliath tiger fish has a double hinged in its jaw which means that it can open its mouth twice as wide and quickly kill something like a human. the Goliath tiger fish has good eyesight it uses for hunting but is slow at swimming. its weak fins make it hard for the Goliath tiger fish to move its huge heavy body. but if there is no currents and the water is calm this thing can swim very fast. these things are predators and can eat up to the size of a 60 pound catfish. no one is sure but in captivity the longest they can live is 10 to 15 years. from what i know this fish has no predators. that is all for today but tomorrow i am doing the snake-head so please leave comments suggestions and spread the word about my blog. please come back and thank you for reading. :)

The Dumbo Octopus

the next animal today is the dumbo octopus.the dumbo octopus lives in the ocean about 3,00 to 4,00 meters deep. the dumbo octopus is a carnivore and eat small crustaceans and small things on the ocean bed. the dumbo octopus swallows its food whole. the dumbo octopus us called what it is because of the big fins on its head. most people think it is their ears but it s not. the dumbo octopus uses its top fins to swim around in the deep ocean. the largest dumbo octopus was 6 feet and weighed 13 pounds. the female octopus like all octopus lays the eggs. dumbo octopuses biggest predator id the sharks that live around it. the difference from a male and female is the females tentacles are all the same but the male has two tentacles bigger than the rest used for mating. there are 37 species of the dumbo octopus. another thing is that the dumbo octopus does not squirt ink like other octopus it just swims away.the next animal i the Goliath tiger fish.

Luna moths

today i am doing three animals because i have not done it for two days my first animal is the Luna moth. to start of the Luna moth has a wingspan of 14 inches. the Luna moth also has two sets of wings two at the front two two at the back.  as you can see the Luna moth has a pale green wings with brown spots that sort of look like eyes. these "eyes" are used to scare away its predators the eyes confuse the predator so it leaves. it also blends in or the real word is to camouflage. the Luna moth camouflages with leaves on the tree. when the Luna moth cameo's, it spreads its wings out so you can not see its white body or its pinkish legs. the Luna moth is also nocturnal. of course it eats leaves because it is a moth. well  mos tpeople think that but the Luna moth doesn't eat at all it doesn't even have a mouth.  they only live a week in that week the Luna moth has to mate. when the female mates she lays 200 eggs on a tree the main tree they lay their eggs on is a black walnut tree leaves. the caterpillar eats but then goes into a cocoon and pupates. when the Luna moth has its wings it can't even use them.  it hangs upside down so the blood flows into its wings and then at night the Luna moth flies of to find a mate. the maleand the female can be told apart because the male has bushier intenas  than the females. luuna moths are found in all of north americs but are endangered in most of the areas. the last thing is a really cool fact that scientist can not explain. when  a moth and butterfly pupate. there entire DNA changes. the next one is the dumbo octopus.

Sunday 19 May 2013

Strange Skunks

Skunks are one of the cute but exotic animals that I love. To start of, the skunk is a mammal and is carnivorous. the skunk is nocturnal so it is more active in the afternoon and night then in the mornings and most the day time. the skunk is found in the us. Canada Greenland. all of Asia and Australia's islands and parts of south America. Lets just say to say this animal is cute is a misunderstanding, ITS ADORABLE. There are eleven species of skunks. the most known is the striped skunk. the others are the spotted, hog nosed and a few others i can't remember. instead of talking about baby last today i will start with them and as they grow up. the baby's mother will always keep the baby's in the den in a small hole in the tree (on the ground) or other places. the baby will depend on its mother to feed it for some time until it can develop the way to stay away from predators by spraying them. when the baby's are older they will come out in the after noon  and find things to eat (eggs on the ground, leaves, shrubs) the skunk will look for food all night until it is day again and then will crawl into its den and go to sleep. if a predator tries to eat the skunk the skunk will make himself look big and be ready to attack/spray the predator ifit does not go away. the skunks spray can temporarily blind an animal. when the skunk is old enough he or she will mate and then the cycle will start all over again. except if winter comes harshley. skunks like many animals hibernate in the winter. but unlike other animals on the first few days of winter the skunk will stay outdoors and eats as much as they can. skunks are also very generous. they will share their homes with other skunks for the winter that do not yet have a home. thank you for listening. please leave comments, suggestions, and next time will be luna moths also please spread the word about my website. thank you :)

Weird wallaroos

The next one is the Wallaroo. to start of the wallaroo is another marsupial. you can not see the pouch on the picture because the wallaroo this is a baby one. a wallaroo is related to the kangaroo and the wallaby. it is about 55-80 centimeter's which is about the size of the kangaroo. the wallaroo is one of the largest marsupials. the wallaroo came to the earth around 4-5 million years ago. the wallaroos are found in Australia but not on any islands there like Tasmania. the wallaroo is a vegetarian so it eats shrubs and other leaves and grass ( grazer). a wallaroo lives on small mountains or slopes. the wallaroo weights about 10-22 kilos. the wallaroo has no natural enemy's as an adult but as a joey dingoes, wild dogs, and feral foxes and cats are all predators. the wallaroos nose and eyes are both good and are used to find food. the ears are good as a joey and mother to listen for its babies predators approaching. if the mother is with the child he/she is protected. the wallaroo has strong limbs that it will use to kick its predators and will badly wound them. when a baby is born it will stay in its mothers pouch for a really long time (depending on the kind of wallaroo. there are four types of wallaroos. these are the black, euro, eastern, and the common wallaroo. thank you for listening please leave comments, suggestions and please share my website to anyone you know. thank you:)

Terrific Tasmania devils

As someone suggested, today i am doing the Tasmanian devil. to start of the Tasmanian devil is not a mammal like most people think. the Tasmanian devil is actually a marsupial. Its pouch is located at the bottom of its stomach so most people do not see it and draw a conclusion that its a mammal. the Tasmanian devil is a scavenger. a scavenger means it eats meat but it does not hunt but eats off of carcases that other animals killed. or the Tasmanian devil eats wounded animals. so basically they will eat any meat as long as it is wounded or already dead.the Tasmanian devil is are only found in Tasmania. they used to be in the rest of Australia but are now extinct because of poachers and because they eat carcases on the road and they get hit all the time. so If you go to Tasmania of the coast of Australia that is the only place you will find Tasmanian devil. now i will talk about the body itself. to start i will talk about the jaw. the Tasmanian devil  muscles  in their jaw are so strong they could easily crush through an animals bone. the next part is its size. the Tasmanian is very small it can only be about 52-80 centimetres!  the next part is its age. the Tasmanian devil can live to about/around 8 years old. the next part is the eyes and ears and noses. the eyes of  Tasmanian devil are not that strong but they use their strong hearing and smell to find all their carcasses.the next part is their feet. the front feet have five toes while the two back ones only have four. this helps them run fast. they can run fast for their size but they can only run10 clicks an hour. the last two parts are the tail and fur. the tail 23-30 centimetres and is about the size of its body. the fur is very thin because it lives in warm places so it has to stay cool. the last part is the mating. The mating season is in march to April and they have 2-4 babies every year. the baby will live in it mothers pouch till it is almost one and then it will stay with its mother for two more years. after that the baby leave and is on its own from now on. thank you for reading. Please post comments and suggestions and please come back tomorrow  to read about a walaroo.

Thursday 16 May 2013

peculiar platypuses

The second animal on my blog is the platypus. to start of the platypus is another monotremata. the platypus is an omnivore but has a diet of seaweed and fish. the platypus lives in eastern Australia including Tasmania. the platypus as you can see is completely covered in fur. this fur is to keep the platypus warm and dry when he/she is swimming in lakes or other body's of water.the next part is the platypuses eyes. the eyes of a platypus is specially made for them to see under the water. the next part is the nose. the platypus uses his/her nose to smell/seek out their prey. the next is the webbed feet. the webbed feet help the platypuses  push through the water. another part is the tail. The tail is long and flat and helps the platypus turn quickly in the water by pushing on the water and it turns their entire body. the next to last part (penultimate) is the beak the beak is used to grab and hold their food/prey. the last part is their pouch they use it to hold the baby. now about the mating. the mating season is spring and the females lay 3 eggs a year. the baby's live on land until they fully developed swimming skills. When they can swim they start to live on their own. thank you for reading. post comment ideas and anything you think i should add. tomorrow is the Tasmanian devil

Exotic Echidnas!

My first amazing animal is an Echidna. For the first part look at the picture, can you tell what it is? a mammal? a reptile?  To be honest it is neither of these. The echidna is a monotremata. now for the people who don't know a monotremata  is actually a marsupial, mammal, and reptile.  monotrematas have a pouch like a marsupial, breath air and live on land like a mammal, and lay eggs like reptiles. to begin the learning the echidna is one of the most exotic animals you will ever find. the main place you will find echidnas is in Australia and in New Zealand. as you see the echidna has a bill sort of like an anteater. This is because like the anteater the echidna too eats and termites. the large bill on its head is to help the echidnas eat ants and push through tough things to get to their food. the next part of the echidna is the eyes. the echidnas eyes may be small but they help the echidna see in the night (because there nocturnal). Also like most animals, the echidna is colour blind. Though small and colour blind the echidnas eyes are amazingly sharp and can spot things miles away from it. the next part of the echidna is the claws. echidnas mainly use there claws to dig dens (where echidnas live). because echidnas live in a den, they can stay cool in the spring ,summer and can stay warm in the fall and winter.echidnas claws are the main reason they have shelter. the next exotic feature is the spines. like hedgehogs, the echidnas use their spines for protection. but unlike the hedgehogs, the echidna also relaxes its spines and carry their egg around on there back. one of the last parts is the pouch. of course it is obvious what the pouch is used for. but if you don't know it is to carry the baby. the last part is about baby echidnas. echidnas mating season is usually in the spring and the mother lays one egg a year. the echidnas eggs are about the size of a small grape. when the echidna is born it will stay in its mothers pouch for three months. when the baby is six months old he/she starts to live on his/her own. and that basically sums up echidnas. please leave comments about your opinion of my blog. also every day i will post a new blog. tomorrows will be another monotremata, the Plautus.  and if you know a very exotic animal, please suggest it in a comment and i will write about it. even if they are from the dinosaur times. thank you for coming on my blog.
