cool king cobras

today i am talking about the king cobra. of course the king cobra is a cobra but there is allot more to the king cobra than that. to start of the king cobra is an reptile. a reptile is an animal that lays eggs, breaths air and have scaly skin. but before all of these the most important part of a reptile is that it is cold blooded. cold blooded means its body has adapted to the weather in its surrounded. you might know that our body temperature stays the same. no matter how hot or cold it is it stays warm. that is why mammals are called warm blooded. but a king cobras body temperature is always changing. this is confusing to explain so i will just give an example. if it was 32 degrees outside, the king cobras body temperature would change to 32 degrees. if it were 98 degrees outside the king cobras body temperature would change to 98 degrees. the next part is the king cobras is their diet. to start of with that, the king cobra is a carnivore which means it eats meat. to kill its prey, it uses a deadly venom to poison its prey. the snake will bite the animal with large fangs located in its mouth.when the snake bites the animal the venom from its fangs goes directly into the animals blood stream. in a few minutes, the king cobras venom paralyzes the animal. in a few minutes the animal is dead because the venom stopped the lungs and the heart so the animal died from lack of air. the next part is that the king cobra swallows its food whole. the jaw of the king cobra can expand. by this i mean it can open it wider the it is supposed to. its mouth is so wide it can eat a whole deer in one bite. literally. its mouth opens so wide that it fits the whole animal in its mouth, bones and all. the last part of eating is about digestion. the king cobra has special stomach acid that can dissolve the fur bones and meat on the animal it ate. the next part is about mating. the female king cobras are the only snake in the world to build a nest for its young. when the male and female mate the female lays 20 to 50 eggs every year the eggs will take 60 to 70 days to hatch but the female is very aggressive during this time and will protect the eggs all this time. as soon as the baby snakes or hatchlings are born they leave the nest and are on their own. the next part is shedding. when the king cobra grows (it never stops growing in all of its 20 years of life) its skin gets to small for it. the snake rubs on something and tears the skin off. the new layer of skin is right at the bottom of the dead skin which fits the cobra. there are only four more things to talk about. the first is evolution scientist have discovered that a snake has evolved from a type of lizard. the next thing is what things they can do though they have no legs. the king cobra can swim slither on land and even climb up trees. the third thing is where they live. they live in countries such as indonesia, Philippines Thailand Vietnam and Burma. the last thing is their size. they are born very small but can grow up to 5.7 meters. thank you for reading. please leave comments suggestions and spread the word. also if you have any questions i will answer them. thank you. the next one i will do is the tarantula. thank you for reading :).
